PRELOADED is proud to introduce The Wild Escape; a new project that will inspire hundreds of thousands of children to visit museums and respond creatively to the threat to the UK’s natural environment.

The Wild Escape sees the largest ever collaboration between the UK’s museums. Aimed at highlighting Britain’s biodiversity crisis, 500 museums will encourage children to discover animals featured in museum collections and create their own wildlife artworks. Those artworks, along with ones from artists and environmentalists, will be brought to life by PRELOADED in an epic-scale digital piece that is set to be unveiled on Saturday 22 April – Earth Day 2023.

Combining play and purpose, the project aims to encourage children to learn about their natural environment, biodiversity and the animal kingdom whilst harnessing their creativity. The Wild Escape is open to every primary school age child to take part in class, through a visit to their local museum or online, from now to July.

Leading creatives taking part include Es Devlin, Andy Holden, Chila Kumari Burman, Heather Phillipson, Thomas J Price, Mollie Ray, Yinka Shonibare, Tai Shani, FKA Twigs, Claire Twomey, Mark Wallinger and more.

Jenny Waldman, Director, Art Fund, said: The Wild Escape is a first. We want to show how museums, by working together can bring a fresh angle to learning, especially to welcome children’s creative responses to our great collections. We want every child to learn from and enjoy what museums can offer whilst at the same time drawing attention to the threat of biodiversity loss in this country, one of the defining challenges of our lives.”

Hattie Foster, Strategy Director at PRELOADED added “We are so proud to be a part of The Wild Escape project. Simple in concept, but ambitious in reach – its goal to inspire and empower children across the UK to collectively imagine a new biodiverse future could not be better aligned with PRELOADED’s Play with Purpose mission. We can’t wait for the digital artwork to come to life!”
